Well, another Oppo/Jalopnik meet in the books! We had an attendance of 6 people:

David Obuchowski (no car), Exage03040 (2018 Honda CB650F Motorcycle), gmctavish (Legacy Wagon), simonkhtse (BMW 635CSi), FromCanadaWithLove (BMW M235i) and myself (Fiesta ST)

Things went pretty smoothly, David nearly didn’t make it due to our city’s notoriously horrible cabs/traffic, but I work close  to the Aquarium where he and his family were and was able to pick them up. First and last time I will ever have a full 5 people in my tiny Fiesta ST I’m sure.

I’ve posted our group shot, if anyone wants it edited or whatever let me know. I won’t identify who is who. I’m the one next to David.

Oppo: that was fun as hell! Seriously big thanks to CarsofFortLangley for bailing us out at the Aquarium, which is really a very nice (and extremely expensive) place to hang. Really loved talking about cars and Canada and really sorry we inconvenienced our server at Granville. (Actually, not sorry at all.) THANK YOU! Now a bit of shameless self-promotion: I have two big essays coming up for Jalopnik. One is a profile, and the other is a pretty wild story about a very special mystery-shrouded car. Keep an eye out. I loved the first season of Tempest, I'm out near Rockaway so it's cool hearing someone from Morristown too. If GMG doesn't renew is there still going to be someway to get the podcasts?

Thanks, I would have swung around but David seemed to need to bounce and wasn’t sure how long we were going to be in the underground. Next one perhaps. You r FiST was on point though, awesome colour!

Too bad I missed this. Just too much other stuff going on this weekend to fit in not probably 20 hours of highway driving in long-weekend traffic . I really want to take the new-to-me Jeep on a decent road trip too.

Was awesome to meet you. Great evening, even got to experience the regular crawl of Friday Vancouver traffic! I’m not exactly sure how I managed to muscle those 8 seats for us near 6pm, secret silver tongue I suppose.

If GMG doesn’t renew, then I’ll see if there’s another way of doing further seasons . (My understanding is that season one would still be avail where it is now on Apple, Spotify, etc.) It would really fucking suck if they didn’t renew it. The team I worked with on it was fantastic, and I know they all like the show a lot. As far as I understand, the show did as well if not better than they hoped, and everyone has told me they hope for a renewal. So I’m trying to be optimistic here.

Hell yeah, Rockaway! The name will escape me, of course, but my family and I used to go get pizza somewhere in Rockaway all the time.

Yeah, I'm not obese (6'2/190lbs) but I tend to have a round face and look like I'm closer to 300 whenever a photo is taken of me

Part of it’s just regional, a typical group of young Seattleites or Portlanders would look pretty similar. Macro forces like ‘going on a hike,’ ‘going kayaking’ and ‘shopping at local healthy stores’   being considered cool things to do and will have the overall force of people being in better shape and looking better.

Wish I could’ve made it this time but I had to be down in Portland this weekend. Next time I hope!! Also I’ve been hoping to check out that SIMA karting place sometime soon which seems like something southern BC and Northern WA Oppos could be interested in.
